I grew up with Conan, I entered my teens with Conan, I started lifting weights because of Conan. When Arnold Schwarzenegger put on the role of Conan, I was enthralled! He was Conan. I saw the movie 10-20 times in the first year it came out. I owned the VHS, Laser Disk and later DVD. The sequel to Conan the Barbarian (Conan the Destroyer) was not nearly as good, but I ate it up and wanted more.

Conan is supposed to be HUGE.

He has 3 emotions, Blood Lust, Mirth and Melancholy.

Verne Gagne: Still Lethal

This is sad. I missed this article last year, but I grew up with AWA Wrestling or All-Star Wrestling in Minnesota.

One of the key figures of this time was Verne Gagne. He was the man, in fact he was the owner of the AWA.

Well it turns out he is 82 or 83 and sometime ago started suffering from from Alzheimer's disease.

He got into it several times with another resident of the home he was staying at. Apparently body-slammed a 97-year-old fellow patient at the suburban nursing home where they both lived, causing the man's death.

Helmut Gutmann, a former cancer researcher who suffered from dementia himself, died Feb. 14, about three weeks after breaking his hip in the confrontation. Authorities ruled his death a homicide. I am very saddened by these events. As Helmut Gutmann (who I never knew was a pretty special guy.

Helmut was born July 31, 1911 in Strasbourg, Germany. He received an MD from the University of Goettingen. Helmut had an avid and life-long love of recreational sports, including skiing, mountainclimbing, tennis, swimming, canoeing and fitness training. He immigrated to the US in 1936 under threat from the Nazi government, and served as a captain in the Chemical Warfare Service of the US Army. Helmut worked for 40 years as a research scientist at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis. His research resulted in the publication of 120 papers in professional journals. In addition to science, Helmut had an abiding love of classical music. He played the violin for many years, including 12 years with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra. Later in life, he played the piano, which he did until his death.

Police said there was no clear indication of what set Gagne off, and neither man could remember the incident afterward. Behavior and personality changes are common as Alzheimer's progresses, and victims of the mind-robbing disease can become agitated.

Like others with the disease, Gagne had all but lost his short-term memory, while his recollections of long-ago events were vivid. But whether he was suffering a flashback to his days in the ring, as some have speculated, is anybody's guess.

Police said they plan to forward the case to prosecutors by the end of the week for possible charges. Gagne, who has since turned 83, has been moved to another institution.

It seams this was the second time they tangled. They had had one scuffle before, when Gutmann had been shouting at other residents and Gagne put a chokehold on him. Gutmann wasn't hurt in that incident.

Dog and Cat Massacre in China

I love dogs, I actually like most animals. I am not a lover of cats, but I grew to like them a little bit.

My dad, hated cats. He grew up on a farm and had wild cats that kept the rodent population at bay. But they were not domesticated and he suffered cat attacks.

My sister when we were kids got my mother to get her a cat. My dad threatened to drown said cat.

Big fight. Bottom line is, we kept the cat.

One time this cat got very ill and we spent a small fortune on getting it better. Hundreds of dollars. My dad flipped. But we paid.

A deal was struck, if the cat got sick again, we would put it down.

Well it got sick again. I was a early teen, that loved hunting, fishing and knew how to handle animals.

My dad, askes me to put down my sister's cat. I am extatic.

I get a chance to torture my older sister, who at times was a complete terror to me.

As most siblings can be.

I get the .22 and take aim, I miss...

My dad observes this and really lays into me. "Dont make the fucking thing suffer, your supposed to be doing a humane act, God damn it! If you cant do the job, I will do it!"

My sister if freaking out now, the cat has run for it's life, and I feel this is not a fun job. I had wanted to cause some pain to my sister, but now that she is sobbing, and carrying on, I feel bad. I did not think it threw. I only knew it needed to be done. I did not try to miss the cat, I took aim.

But I also did not prepare myself (prior to the first shot) at what I was about to do. Perhaps if I was thinking about my humanitarian job, I might have shot better, and got it over.

Now, with the histerics going, and the realization, that this poor sick cat, wants to live, and is running for it's life, I have empathay for it, and my sister.

I track it down to a pile of brush. The poor cat is in as deep as it can go.

It is trapped. It hisses at me, pure hatred. It knows what I am there to do. It growls and hisses at me.

I talk to it as I get my gun ready. "I'm sorry, we both don't want to be here, I will make it quick".

I aim, I take my breath, I hold, I kill. One shot, now with the grim realization I have to not miss.

It takes me 10 minutes to dig the cat out of the brush pile.

With it in my hands, I march back to the house.

My dad is there, and nods at me, I nod back. I am not celebrating the kill, like I uased to over duck or pheasant.

As I get to the porch (this is the same porch I used to use to scale and fillet fish, or skin other mamels taken from the hunt. I ask my dad, should I take the pelt?

Due to crosswind, it missed the aiming point, the Aioi Bridge, by almost 800 feet (240 m) and detonated directly over Shima Surgical Clinic.[22] It created a blast equivalent to about 13 kilotons of TNT. (The U-235 weapon was considered very inefficient, with only 1.38% of its material fissioning.)[23] The radius of total destruction was about one mile (1.6 km), with resulting fires across 4.4 square miles (11 km2).[24] Americans estimated that 4.7 square miles (12 km2) of the city were destroyed. Japanese officials determined that 69% of Hiroshima's buildings were destroyed and another 6–7% damaged.[5]

The current vaccine against the seasonal influenza strain H1N1 is thought to be unlikely to provide protection.[25] Anne Schuchat, director of CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said that the United States cases were found to be made up of genetic elements from four different flu viruses—North American swine influenza, North American avian influenza, human influenza A virus subtype H1N1, and swine influenza virus typically found in Asia and Europe. For two cases a complete genome sequence had been obtained. She said that the virus was resistant to amantadine and rimantadine, but susceptible to oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza).

The new strain appears to be a recombinant between two older strains. Morgan Tsvangirai, the new prime minister and former opposition leader, did not attend the celebrations despite earlier indications that he might.
Mr Mugabe's spokesman, George Charamba, told Reuters news agency he had opted out of the event after realising it had been organised by the president's Zanu-PF party.
"People should not read this as a snub - he excused himself," Mr Charamba said.
Mr Mugabe turned 85 on 21 February but his party is being held a week later.
SADC 'nonsense'
Mr Mugabe told the rally in Chinhoyi there would be "no going back" on planned and already executed seizures of land owned by white farmers.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) tribunal in Namibia had no right to intervene on the farmers' behalf, he said.
"Farms will not be returned back to former farmers," he told the audience.
"Some farmers went to the SADC... but that's nonsense, absolute nonsense, no-one will follow that.
"We have courts here in this country, that can determine the rights of people. Our land issues are not subject to the SADC tribunal."
In November, the tribunal ruled that Zimbabwe's plans to seize dozens of white-owned farms were illegal under international rule and should be halted immediately.
Zimbabwe's Commercial Farmers Union says that, in the past month, operations at about 150 farms have been disrupted. Some farmers have been evicted.
Mr Mugabe said the new government would continue to push for a majority stake in companies operating in Zimbabwe.

Australian customs officials say the live birds were wrapped in padded envelopes and held to the man's legs by a pair of tights under his trousers.

Surgeons remove healthy kidney through donor's vagina

Oh my god! In what is being heralded as a "first-ever procedure," surgeons removed a healthy kidney through a donor's vagina, the Johns Hopkins Medical Center has announced.

Although the procedure has been previously done to extract cancerous and nonfunctioning kidneys that threatened a patient's health, the January 29 surgery was the first time it was done for donation purposes, the center said in a news release issued Monday.

"The kidney was successfully removed and transplanted into the donor's niece, and both patients are doing fine," Dr. Robert Montgomery, chief of transplant surgery at Johns Hopkins, said in the release.

The surgery is considered less invasive and could pave the way for an increase in organ donations, it added.

"Removing the kidney through a natural opening should hasten the patient's recovery and provide a better cosmetic result," Montgomery said.

He told CNN on Tuesday, "We want to make it easier for people to donate, to have less impact on their lives, [be] in hospital a shorter amount of time and get back to their lives quicker."

Thailand: Land of Smiles

I am in Thailand this week, it is the Winter here now, so it is about 80 degrees F. Outside and the Humidity is only 48%.

Not too bad really.

As you may have heard the main Airports Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi are closed due to anti government protesters here. Little violence has occurred(however some people have been killed).

There have been 10 Coups here since 1971. I was here during the last one in 2006.

The Kings Birthday is December 5th, so it will probably be settled via Coup or not before that. I hope. I have all next week here, and hope to get out on time, but you never know.

Most Thais think it is silly (that I talk to). Closing the airports has stranded 1000s of tourists and so far 1.5 million tourists are canceling trips. That is probably over a billion US dollars in lost tourism. It is likely to be 2-3 that.

The Thais in this worldwide economic crisis simply can not afford this.

Mostly I have been staying in our corporate apparment (NOT in Bangkok) cooking my own meals working late and watching the Discovery Channel.

I must be getting old, I seam to like cooking more for myself, and enjoy my own company. I went to Thanksgiving at a co-workers, friend on Thursday. The man is an insperation (from a culunary point). He is a fantastic cook and did 2 Turkeys up a storm. His gravy and stuffing were awesome as well. But I gotta tell you his Apple Pie as the best I had ever had. Made in Thailand, in this weather, he did a fantastic job.

Opus: Gone

Life goes on. Opus, a creation of Berkeley Breathed, started as Bloom County in 1980. I was a huge fan, I had the books, I had t-shirts and even a framed print of Opus in my house, I passed it as art, and would look at the picture of Opus, and laugh.

Berkeley Breathed ended Bloom County in 1989, to later start up Outland (same year).
He ran that until 1995.

Then in 2003 Opus came out, and now in November 2008, it is over.

China Sux: Threatens EU for Human Rights Award.

Hu Jia wins European rights prize

One of China's most prominent human rights activists, Hu Jia, has won the European Parliament's prestigious Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.
Mr Hu, a democracy, environment and Aids activist, is serving a jail term for inciting subversion of state power.
The parliament's president said Mr Hu was "one of the real defenders of human rights" in China, and that the award would support Chinese activists.
Beijing has criticised the award as an interference in its internal affairs.
European Parliament President Hans-Gert Poettering said that by awarding the prize to Mr Hu, the parliament "firmly and resolutely acknowledges the daily struggle for freedom of all Chinese human rights defenders".
"The European Parliament is sending out a signal of clear support to all those who support human rights in China," he said.
Mr Hu is credited with chronicling instances of abuse and alerting both fellow Chinese human rights activists and foreign news organisations.
He was convicted last April of inciting subversion, and is now serving a three-and-a-half-year jail sentence. His wife, Zeng Jinyan, is under effective house arrest.

Ms Zeng said she thought her husband would be happy with the award and the validation of his work.
"I have always felt that support for Hu Jia will be helpful to him in the long term," she told AFP.
'Criminal'
Green party leaders Daniel Cohn-Bendit and Monica Frassoni said the awarding of the prize to Hu Jia was "a reflection of this very spirit of this prize, which supports free thought and honours human rights defenders fighting repression".

Mr Cohn-Bendit and Ms Frassoni also criticised Beijing for failing to respect commitments it made to improve their human rights record prior to the Olympic Games in August.
China, which views Mr Hu as a criminal, reacted angrily to news of the prize, saying it was "a gross interference in China's domestic affairs".
"We express strong dissatisfaction at the decision by the European Parliament to issue such an award to a jailed criminal in China, in disregard of our repeated representations," said foreign ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao.
In a letter sent to the president of EU assembly earlier this week, China's ambassador to the EU, Song Zhe, said giving the award to Mr Hu would "inevitably hurt the Chinese people once again and bring serious damage to China-EU relations".

"Not recognising China's progress on human rights and insisting on confrontation will only deepen the misunderstanding between the two sides and is not conducive to the promotion of the cause of world human rights," he said.
Mr Hu was also tipped as a possible winner of the Nobel Peace Prize this year, prompting Beijing to issue a veiled warning that the prize should go to the "right person".
The prize was eventually given to Finnish ex-President Martti Ahtisaari.
The Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought has been awarded annually since 1988 to "individuals or organisations who have made an important contribution to the fight for human rights or democracy".
The prize, which comes with 50,000 euros ($64,000; £39,500), will be awarded in Strasbourg on 17 December.

El Salvadoran Cpl. Samuel Toloza is a total badass. He was part of a small Central American unit stationed in Najaf, Iraq that came under attack from Iraqi insurgents.

The small unit was caught off-guard and managed to put up a tough defense before running out of ammunition. With one man dead, twelve others wounded and no bullets left Toloza and his three remaining comerades desperately attempted to hold their position. When Iraqi rebels surrounded one of his wounded friends and tried to pull him off, Toloza freaked out ninja-style, whipped out his goddamned pocket knife and started stabbing the shit out of anyone that came near him.

In one of the only known instances of hand-to-hand combat in the Iraq conflict, Cpl. Toloza stabbed several attackers swarming around a comrade. The stunned assailants backed away momentarily, just as a relief column came to the unit's rescue.
"We never considered surrender," Said Toloza. "I was trained to fight until the end."

Dead Snow

Norway is attacked by a swarm of Nazi zombies unleashed from their frozen ice cave by a pack of clueless teens.

On Gurkhas

The Gurkhas have history of bravery, loyalty and honor amount the British. They have served with distinction and honor since 1817. In short, these people who have nothing have fought with bravery and honor for the British.

I have meet and conversed with a few Gurkhas in my travels abroad. I have to say, they strike me as smallish, friendly people, very quick to smile and were proud of their service.

Gurkha soldiers have been awarded 13 Victoria Crosses, all but one (Rambahadur Limbu) were awarded when all Gurkha regiments were still part of the Indian Army. An additional 13 VCs have been awarded to British Officers in Gurkha regiments. Since Indian independence, Gurkhas have also been awarded 3 Param Vir Chakras.

Ethnically, Gurkhas who are presently serving in the British armed forces are Indo-Tibeto-Mongolians. Gurkhas serving in the Indian Armed Forces are of both groups, Indo-Tibeto-Mongolian and ethnic Rajput. Gurkhas of Indo-Tibeto-Mongolian origin mostly belong to the Gurung, Magar, Tamang, Khasa and Kiranti origin, many of whom are adherents of Tibetan Buddhism and Shamanism.[10]

All Gurkhas, regardless of ethnic origin, speak Nepali, an Indo-Aryan language. They are also famous for their large knife called the khukuri, which is featured in an X shaped congifuration on their emblem. Tradition has it that whenever a Gurkha draws their khukuri for any reason, the blade must taste blood.

Gurkha, also spelled as Gorkha, are people from Nepal , who take their name from the eighth century Hindu warrior-saint Guru Gorakhnath.[1] His disciple Bappa Rawal, born Prince Kalbhoj/Prince Shailadhish, founded the house of Mewar, Rajasthan (Rajputana). Later descendants of Bappa Rawal moved further east to found the house of Gorkha, which in turn founded the Kingdom of Nepal.[2]

Gurkhas are best known for their history of bravery and strength in the British Army's Brigade of Gurkhas and the Indian Army's Gorkha regiments.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — After a bomb scare at the Philadelphia Phillies' ballpark, authorities pointed the finger at a fuzzy green suspect — The Phillie Phanatic.

Hours before the Phillies-Atlanta Braves' game on Wednesday night, a film crew shot a commercial of the mascot shooting heavily wrapped hot dogs from a launcher.

But someone inadvertently left three of the duct taped hot dogs outside the ballpark, sparking security fears. Stadium employees were evacuated and the bomb squad was called in.

Only after the packages were blown up did authorities realize they'd just exploded some sausages.

"We saw something that looked suspicious," said Michael Stiles, Phillies senior vice president, administration and operations. "We did the right thing. It turned out to be nothing. We could have gone over and picked it up and thrown it in the trash and been done with it. But if we had been wrong, somebody might have lost an arm."

After the detonation, the game went on as scheduled.

"I'd rather them blow up some hot dogs or some ketchup and mustard and relish than have it be a real bomb," reliever Chad Durbin said. "Better safe than sorry.

So I live in Fremont and have been a patron of Kasper's Hot Dogs

A few years ago I stumbled upon Casper"s hotdog in Hayward. Caspers

So the menus are almost exact. The dogs themselves are a little differant, but both are really, really good. I prefer the ones in Hayward (Casper's) to the one in Fremont (Kasper's). But here is the story behind them.

Kasper"s was a hotdog stand opened in 1929. The original I am told is still there. 4521 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland. It currently is under renovation (Since 2003 apparently)

Now there is another Kasper's in Oakland, Kasper's Hot Dogs 2551 MacArthur Blvd. The owner Harold is the Nephew of Kasper Koojoolian, (from the Oakbook).

Someone Else opened up Casper's in 1934. The rumor I hear it was the same family and someone got upset and left. Another rumor is nothing doing. Kasper's came first. Casper's came second. Casper's has it's own sausage company. As Kasper's does not.

I would like more info, if anybody has it, let me know. I probe at the stores and no-one wants to talk about it.

YES fellow Junkies, the time we all should focus on the most serious issues that face us...
Drinking large 1 liter mugs of beer, eating salty food, listening to Polka Music, sweating and seating at picnic benches inside large tents and of course screwing.

Oktoberfest starts today in Munich (or München if you speak a the Deutsche) (München, is derived from the Old German word for Mönche, which means "Monks" in English.)

Anyway I digress...

In 1985 I lived the dream, working in Germany as a young technician for an American company I got the opportunity to to to Oktoberfest for the weekend. We drank a shitload of Beer, served in Oktoberfest beer mugs (1-liter-Steins, Maßkrug in German are made from heavy glass and typically have a decorative brewery logo on the side).
This is a picture of a VERY Strong Waitress with 8 Maßkrugs in her hands. The Ketosis Junkie would be challenged with doing such.

So we drank and ate and I ran into a couple of local Bavarian girls, we hung out and made a rendezvous for the next day, as I had to manage several of my American co-workers who had drunk to much.

The next day we headed to Oktoberfest where I met the two young ladies and we skipped the beer halls went to their apartment and discussed politics, music and the nature of man. We smoked some hash, drank some beer and they showed me the German game of swap the salami. These two girls were very close and sharing a young American between them was as natural as sharing a sandwich with your best friend. I feel in love with Germany. Now these were the days where shaving had not quite made it to Europe, so, by today's standards, there was a bit of stubble, and the landscape was a bit wild.

The Munich Oktoberfest, traditionally, takes place during the sixteen days up to and including the first Sunday in October.

The original "Oktoberfest" occurred in Munich, on October 12, 1810: For the commemoration of their marriage, Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen (namesake of the Theresienwiese festival grounds) organized a great horse race (the marriage took place on October 12; the horse race on October 17 — therefore, there are different dates named as being the first Oktoberfest).

Matos angrily questioned the call, pushed a judge, then pushed and kicked referee Chakir Chelbat of Sweden. Matos then spat on the floor and was escorted out.

His coach was a big fan of the movie "Karate Kid" only watching the "Cobra Kai" portion of the movie though. Cuban coach Leudis Gonzalez offered no apology for Matos’ actions during the men’s over-80 kg (176 pounds) match.

In his first match, Matos defeated Italy’s Leonardo Basile, then beat China’s Liu Xiaobo 2-1 in the quarterfinals. But he lost to South Korean Cha Dong-min in the semis to land in the bronze-medal match.

“To me it was obvious he was unable to continue,” Chilmanov said. “His toe on his left foot was broken.”

The women, Wu Dianyuan, 79, and Wang Xiuying, 77, had made five visits to the police this month in an effort to get permission to protest what they contended was inadequate compensation for the demolition of their homes in Beijing.

During their final visit on Monday, public security officials informed them that they had been given administrative sentences for “disturbing the public order,” according to Li Xuehui, Ms. Wu’s son.

Mr. Li said his mother and Ms. Wang, who used to be neighbors before their homes were demolished to make way for a redevelopment project, were allowed to return home but were told they could be sent to a detention center at any moment. “Can you imagine two old ladies in their 70s being re-educated through labor?” he asked. He said Ms. Wang was nearly blind.

A man who answered the phone at the Public Security Bureau declined to give out information about the case.

At least a half dozen people have been detained by the authorities after they responded to a government announcement late last month designating venues in three city parks as “protest zones” during the Olympics. So far, no demonstrations have taken place.

According to Xinhua, the state news agency, 77 people submitted protest applications, none of which were approved. Xinhua, quoting a public security spokesperson, said that apart from those detained all but three applicants had dropped their requests after their complaints were “properly addressed by relevant authorities or departments through consultations.” The remaining three applications were rejected for incomplete information or for violating Chinese law.

The authorities, however, have refused to explain what happened to applicants who disappeared after they submitted their paperwork. Among these, Gao Chuancai, a farmer from northeast China who was hoping to publicize government corruption, was forcibly escorted back to his hometown last week and remains in custody.

Relatives of another person who was detained, Zhang Wei, a Beijing resident who was also seeking to protest the demolition of her home, were told she would be kept at a detention center for a month. Two rights advocates from southern China have not been heard from since they were seized last week at the Public Security Bureau’s protest application office in Beijing.

Ms. Wu and Ms. Wang were well known to the authorities for their persistent campaign for greater compensation for the demolition of their homes. Mr. Li said his family had given up their home in 2001 with the expectation that they would get a new one in the development that replaced it. Instead, he said, the family has been forced to live in a ramshackle apartment on the capital’s outskirts.

“I feel very sad and angry because we’re only asking for the basic right of living and it’s been six years, but nobody will do anything to help them,” Mr. Li said.

He said that he and Ms. Wang’s daughter tried to apply for their own protest permit on Tuesday but that the police would not even give them the necessary forms.

The two elderly women were given administrative sentences to re-education through labor, known as laojiao, which seeks to reform political and religious dissenters and those charged with minor crimes like prostitution and petty theft. Government officials say that 290,000 people are detained in re-education centers for terms ranging from one to three years, although detentions can be extended for those whose rehabilitation is deemed inadequate.

Human rights advocates have long criticized the system because punishment is handed down by officials without trials or means of appeal. Last year, the government briefly grappled with revamping the system but backed off in the face of opposition from public security officials.

Although it is unlikely that women as old as Ms. Wu and Ms. Wang would be forced into hard labor, many of those sentenced to laojiao often toil in agricultural or factory work and are forced to confess their transgressions.

Man's penis stuck in park bench

A MAN is lucky to still have a penis after he inserted it in a metal park bench and became stuck, doctors say.
At least a dozen police and emergency services workers were called to the park in Hong Kong after 41-year-old Le Xing’s penis became trapped in a hole, apparently after he became aroused.

According to reports from Hong Kong, the “lonely and disturbed” Mr Xing told police he thought it would be fun to have sex with the bench, UK’s The Telegraph reported.

Unfortunately for Mr Xing, news crews descended on the park to film the rescue effort:

Viewers from around the globe marvelled at the Opening Ceremony last Friday. One of the most spectacular features was the martial arts display by 2008 pupils from the famous Shaolin Centre in Henan province. With coordinated movements, they showed the Tai Chi variant of Kung Fu; a popular way to relax for many Chinese people.

The skillful and well-executed show took a severe toll on many of the participants; both those who took part and the performers who were held in reserve.

Many of the martial arts performers feel abused and ignored by the Olympic organizers. For the last year, they have been housed 50 to a room, more than 70 kilometres from the ‘Bird’s Nest’ National arena. This is where they have slept, eaten and spent all their time.

Leaving the compound around the barracks was strictly forbidden. The dormitories are crammed with bunk beds. Between 30 and 50 of the teenagers spent the night in each room. Only a few of the showers work and the toilet facilities have been bad. The winter was icy and in summer, the pupils had to battle against mosquitoes and the heat.

"After repeated complaints they finally installed air-conditioning in the sleeping quarters. However, most of the equipment was so old that it didn't work," says one of the pupils.

Most of the 2500 performers have been sent home after the opening ceremony. The few that remain in order to take part in the closing ceremony are extremely angry about the treatment they have received from the Olympic organizers.

"The food is the worst thing. We’ve had the same two courses for dinner for a year. Sometimes there hasn't been enough for everyone. Those who have arrived last haven't got anything to eat," says a pupil.

He adds that he "wants to throw up," when the food is served.

"We never get noodles or dumplings. All we get is rice," he says.

Another pupil describes his disappointment as he arrived in Beijing last year. "We were proud at being chosen to take part. We all had great dreams about what we were going to do, what we were going to see and what big stars we would become, but all we've seen is the inside of this military camp. The only thing we dream of now is going home," he says.

Conditions have been so bad that their trainer, Kung Fu master Liu Haike, has sent a series of complaints to the Olympic organizers. The complaints did have some effect.

"In the end, the pupils got enough to eat, even if the diet was extremely monotonous," he says to daily newspaper Aftenposten.

Liu describes pressure from the organizers as extreme. Everything had to be perfect. As result the performers had to practice up to 16 hours a day. "The test performance of the opening ceremony was worst of all. The pupils had to remain in the stadium for 51 hours. They were hardly fed. There was nowhere to sleep. Some managed to sleep on the seats, but they didn't get more than a couple of hours at most," says Liu.

The first round of DNA tests (three samples in all) proved nothing, but points us down the road that this is a hoax. of the tests, one came back inconclusive, one contained traces of human DNA and one had traces of opossum DNA.

I think what they are telling us here, is Bigfoot is a Human/Opossum Hybrid.

The Scientists are about to get involved, but one is on holiday until tomorrow and two others from Russia have yet to arrive in the US, they said. A Former Police Officer Stood up to a Gang that threatened to kill him: Results he gets arrested

Paul Lawson 52, a retired police officer had a night out in Morpeth town center, and was being driven home by his wife. As they left the parking lot a beer can hit their car. It was thrown by a gang member. Mr Lawson confronted the gang.

Mr Lawson (a former police officer) had intended to make a citizens arrest but was quickly surrounded by 12 gang members and told to leave or he would be killed. The gang also informed him they'd wreck his car if they saw it in the town again.

Mr Lawson spoke to patrolling officers who proceeded to ignore him and not take down any details. One of the gang later claimed to have been assaulted by Mr Lawson and he was quickly summoned to a police station and arrested.

Mr Lawson said last night: 'I still can't believe this. At the time this happened, I was distraught about going through the whole process, bearing in mind the background I come from. As far as I am concerned, they just abrogated their responsibility and should be ashamed of themselves.'

The beer can was thrown as Mr Lawson's wife Chris, a 54-year-old nurse, drove him and his brother out of a car park in Morpeth town centre after a night out.

Mr Lawson said: 'There was the usual crowd of boy racers who gather in Morpeth and I got out and moved towards them. I was planning on making a citizen's arrest, but things very quickly turned nasty.

'I was surrounded by about 12 of them. They told me to leave or they would kill me. The ringleader said if he saw my car parked in Morpeth again they would wreck it.'

Mr Lawson was surprised that the police patrol took no action, and astonished to be read his rights at the local police station.

He said: 'I was told I had been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and that a youth claimed I had grabbed and bruised him. I was absolutely furious, it was unbelievable.

'The police refused my solicitor's submission that there was clearly no need for further action. About seven weeks after the original incident, I got a call to say there was no case for me to answer. It caused a lot of worry and stress for my wife and I.

'I have not heard about any action against the youths. I am still waiting for my allegations to be investigated and I am very angry about the whole experience.

'After 30 years serving as a policeman and upholding the Queen's peace, I could have acted as a professional witness and perhaps got rid of yobs who at times are the scourge of Morpeth.'

Chief Inspector John Barnes of Northumbria Police refused to comment on the incident, adding: 'Anyone who feels unhappy with the way they have been treated can make use of our official complaints procedure.'

Giant Turd Floats Away

A giant inflatable dog turd created by the American artist Paul McCarthy was blown from its moorings at a Swiss museum, bringing down a power line and breaking a window before landing in the grounds of a children's home.

The exhibit, entitled Complex Shit, is the size of a house. It has a safety system that is supposed to deflate it in bad weather, but it did not work on this occasion.

Juri Steiner, the director of the Paul Klee centre, in Berne, told AFP that a sudden gust of wind carried it 200 metres before it fell to the ground, breaking a window of the children's home. The accident happened on July 31, but the details only emerged yesterday.

Steiner said McCarthy had not yet been contacted and the museum was not sure if the piece (pictured here) would be put back on display.

The installation is part of an exhibition called East of Eden: A Garden Show, which features sound sculptures in trees and a football ground without goalposts. The exhibition opened in May and is due to run until October.

The Spanish Basketball Federation took out a full-page ad in the country's largest sports newspaper, Marca, wishing the men's and women's teams good luck in the Beijing games. The photo accompanying the ad, however — showing all team members making a slant-eyed gesture — raised eyebrows and sparked international outrage.

The heavily favored Spanish team, the reigning world champions, took the court Tuesday against China, and was greeted with typical Chinese polite applause — mixed with a rare sprinkle of boos. Spain went on to win in overtime, 85-75.

The Guardian newspaper reported that no one from the federation felt the ad was inappropriate, and that no offense was intended.

Iranian swimmer Mohammad Alirezaei pulled out of the men’s 100m breaststroke minutes before he was due to compete against Israel’s Tom Beeri, who finished fourth.

Iran may face action from the International Olympic Committee if its swimmer deliberately pulled out of the men’s 100m breaststroke heats because an Israeli was also racing, Olympic officials said Sunday.

“Under the spirit of respect and fair play, if it is confirmed that he deliberately pulled out then the IOC would take it seriously,” IOC spokeswoman Giselle Davies told Agence France-Presse.

Beeri made no mention of the non-appearance after the race.

Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency said that Alirezaei pulled out because of illness.

Iran has not competed against Israel at the Olympic Games since the 1979 revolution.

The Iranian National Olympic Committee (INOC) said earlier Saturday that there would be no issue with Alirezaei attending the competition.

Yeah right. Ill my ass. He was probably had death threats if he entered the water with an Israeli.

The fatal stabbing of the father of a former Olympian at a Beijing landmark cast a sad shadow over the first full day of Olympic competition Saturday, just hours after China's jubilant opening of the Summer Games.

Todd and Barbara Bachman of Lakeville, Minn. — parents of 2004 volleyball Olympian Elisabeth "Wiz" Bachman and in-laws of U.S. men's volleyball coach Hugh McCutcheon — were attacked by a Chinese man while visiting the 13th-century Drum Tower.

I used to live next to Lakeville, I lost my virginity to a girl from Lakeville. Bachman's is an established Business in Minnesota.

This is a sad thing, tragedy visits us all. I had prayed the Olympics would be have some politics, some type of coming to the world about the oppresive regiem in China, and the way the world turns a blind eye. But not for violence.

But it grows.

At least five people were killed and several more were critically injured in a series of bomb explosions in China's far west region of Xinjiang, in what looks increasingly like a concerted bombing campaign by Muslim separatists to coincide with the Beijing Olympics.

Witnesses described how attackers threw home made bombs at a police station and office buildings, injuring police and security guards and destroying two police cars. Five of the attackers were reported to have been killed at the scene.

Let's hope the violence has run it's course. But there will be repercussions.

There already are: The police are running house to house searches in Xinjiang, and these are smash the door in searches. Funny, how in the name of fighting terror, the first thing to go is human rights!

Mission Pizza and Pub has been around a long, long time. Right off of 680 and Washington Ave. in a little strip mall is a Pizza Restaurant that has 32 Micro brews on tap. Not a Bud, or MGB, or Heineken in that line up (Bud and Bud Light are in bottles for the urine drinkers out there), but 32 micros from all over the place. (ok, in terms of full disclosure, they had 6 imports and a cider!).

Lots of IPAs and imperial, IPAs, or double IPAs, but hoppy, high gravity beer!

Kudos to the people who run it, and the family style place has live music on Fridays and Saturdays. But they close at 10pm, in keeping with a nice, laid back family environment, it is a refreshing little bit of heaven here in the hills of Fremont CA.

Well, Jimmy Carter is Pissed about that.

All kidding aside, this was planned to happen on the day the Olympics started and Putin and Bush would both be out of their prospective countries. I am sure this was no accident. Bush and Putin I am sure had words.

Putin would have said something like this:
"Fuck you, Georgia is NOT part of NATO and will never be, I'm fucking taking it back!"

Bush's response would be:
"Vlad, nice chicken skewers here at the buffet ehh? BTW I don't care about Georgia, they were gonna be one of the blue states in the next election anyway."

"Bush you fucking putz, Georgia the fucking country! I invaded it!" Snaps Putin.

"oh yeah, that, well NATO will handle that, have some Chicken Vlad, it's better for you!"

Scenerio: Bush gets arrested by Chinese Officials

Here's a scenario for you.

Our president, arrives at Beijing, the Olympics get rolling. A couple of US Athletes protest and get beat upon by the Chinese. Bush makes an announcement, condemning the Chinese and gets arrested. (After a few tense moments, the Secret Service are told by the Commander in Chief to stand down.

Dick Cheney is in charge. He in a disheveled manner, strides into the oval office with his trusty shotgun. "I'm in charge now!".

Let's prepare to nuke the Olympics. Nobody arrests the President! Cheney does not seam to care that the same strike would kill the President.

Meanwhile, the US Athletes (primarily the Basketball team, the gymnastic team, the cyclist and the synchronized swimmers) unite, to form a commando team to free the President and prevent nuclear Armageddon.

Meanwhile Condi has to distract Cheney enough to delay the attack...

Olympic Protests: Getting Warmed Up

Foreign activists unfurled pro-Tibet banners at a key Olympics venue Wednesday and spoke out against China's rights record in Tiananmen Square, in the first attempts to use the spotlight of the games to raise other issues.

All of the groups tangled with Chinese authorities, who are determined to make sure the communist government's plan for the Beijing Games to be an international showcase for the country goes off without a hitch.

Two men from Students for a Free Tibet each climbed a light pole in front of the so-called Bird's Nest and put up the banners at dawn, said Lhadon Tethong, the New York-based group's executive director. The other two — a man and a woman — provided support from the base of the poles, she said.

Later Wednesday, three Americans spent almost an hour in the iconic Tiananmen Square criticizing Beijing's handling of issues ranging from forced abortions to the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement to pro-democracy demonstrations in 1989.

"It was important for us that there be a clear voice speaking out against the Chinese government's abuse of human rights," Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition in Washington, said in a telephone interview.

The trio also set up a banner in the square that said "Christ is King" and knelt and prayed. Brandi Swindell, national director of the activist group Generation Life, also put out seven roses in memory of those who died in the military crackdown on pro-democracy protests on and near the square in 1989.

We had used a weapon of mass destruction and 70,000 lives were wiped out in an instant. The weapon's yield was considered very inefficient was a gun type FISSION WEAPON. It's yield was only 13 Kilotons. That said a single bomb had a blast radius of about one mile.

90% of Hiroshima's buildings were destroyed or partially destroyed.

Say what you will this WAS a humane way to end the war.

The coming invasion of Japan was sure to cause the lose of over 100,000 of American lives, and probably millions of Japanese. Also at risk was the execution of ~100,000 POWs who would have been disposed of, had Japan's mainland been invaded.

The Japanese, were extremely tenacious, and would have fought even harder (if possible) as they had in the Japanese Islands of Iwo Jima, Okinawa and others. Civilians would have been sacrificed, or killed themselves in droves.

You have to remember 100,000 lives were killed in the fire bombing of Tokyo, that had been going on, and would have continued.

Yes, atomic weapons are terrible, Japan paid the price, but was it not due?

The military mentality was if a human was not a Japanese, they are sub human. Massacres in China and other areas proved that. Mayby in way this is the karmic payback for this.

We all paid for it, now we have nukes in France, China, Russia, USA, Britain, India, Pakistan, Israel and Iran. May the number decrease, lest our Alien oversears come down and kick our ass.
